At Rights Across Nations (RAN), we prioritize the protection of your personal information. Given the sensitive nature of our civil rights advocacy work, we implement stringent privacy measures to ensure the safety and anonymity of those involved with our organization.
Data Collection
We collect only the minimum amount of personal information necessary, with several options to engage with us anonymously.
Anonymous Submissions:
- Report an Issue: You can submit a report without providing personal information like name or email. Anonymity is offered as an option to protect those fear from government persecution.
Contact Information:
- If you provide personal information (such as your name and email) through forms or participation in our programs, we use this data solely for the purposes for which it was provided. For example, we may contact you regarding reports you’ve submitted or as part of the Advocate Champion Program.

- You can subscribe to our newsletters and mailing lists by providing your email address. We will use this information only to send you the communications you’ve subscribed to and will never share or sell this data to third parties.
GDPR Compliance
In alignment with GDPR regulations, we process your personal data based on:
- Consent: When you explicitly provide your data for a specific purpose (e.g., subscribing to a newsletter or submitting a form).
- Legitimate Interest: We may process minimal personal data (such as IP addresses for security purposes) to ensure the operational integrity of our services.
You have the following rights under GDPR:

- Right to Correction: You can request corrections to any inaccurate data.
- Right to Deletion: You can request the deletion of your personal data.
Data Usage and Retention
We use your personal data only for the purposes for which it was provided:
- Submitting Reports: If you submit a report and provide contact details, we may reach out to you for follow-up. You can request that details of your report be anonymized, or you may request that your story not be shared publicly. Unless explicitly requested, we assume we can share the details of the issue (e.g., types of discrimination), while maintaining your privacy and safety.
- Advocate Champion Program: If you apply to this program, your personal information will be kept on file for as long as necessary. If you become a Champion, your contact information may be shared with other Champions or external individuals for program-related duties, such as media engagements.

RAN takes the security of your personal information very seriously. All personal data is stored securely on our servers. We do not rely on third-party services for data processing, ensuring that your data remains entirely under our control.
Some non-personal security data, such as IP addresses, may be temporarily stored in security logs for operational purposes, including safeguarding our platform from misuse.

Given the strong privacy and freedom of speech protections in these countries, such disclosures are highly unlikely, especially in matters related to civil rights advocacy.
